MLB Diversity Business Summit- Welcome Reception
Thanks to the generous gift of a sponsorship from True Blue Inclusion and Andrews Kurth, LLC, I had the privilege to attend the MLB Diversity Business Summit co-hosted by Major League Baseball and the Houston Astros at the George R. Brown convention center and Minute Maid Park.
My Tuesday started with a trip from Katy to the law office of Andrews Kurth, LLC in the JP Morgan Chase building downtown to meet with True Blue Inclusion, as well as the other Aggies that were given sponsorships to the event. There we talked to some awesome Aggies and business leaders who helped us understand what was going to happen during the conference and what to expect through our day.
After our meeting, I headed out to the Hyatt Regency hotel where we were fortunate enough to get a hotel room free of charge to stay at while we were at the conference. I had a little time to kill before we had a welcome reception so I just hung out at the hotel with my fellow roommates until it was time for the reception.
At 6 o'clock we went down to the basement of the hotel into the reception. I learned that True Blue Inclusion set up with MLB to have a design contest of the room. Below is a picture of some of the decorations!
Picture (will have to wait till I get on a computer!)
Being that it was in Houston, of course I loved the room decor! I may need to hire out the designer to decorate for my wedding! (Wouldn't those baseball tables be cute and the dugout benches!)
Anyway, at the reception we had the opportunity to network with individuals from all 30 MLB clubs as well as various other media individuals. This was an experience only for the people who registered early and really helped me get more relaxed and comfortable for the next day.
At the end of the reception, we were able to hear from all the high powered employees in MLB as well as the Houston Astros. If the reception is a preview of what is to come tomorrow, I am in for a real treat and a great experience.
